His quest for products to remedy his own less-than-perfect complexion led only to frustration. Discouraged to discover that the treatment options available were not efficacious for his skin type and often left an embarrassing, unpleasant residue on his skin, Roth set out to develop a line of therapeutic products created with effective ingredients and leading-edge technology, offering solutions across a broad spectrum of skin care needs. Thus, Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care was born.
Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care was not borne of necessity alone; skin care is an inherent part of Roth’s heritage. The son of Hungarian spa owners, Peter’s father’s family owned and operated spa hotels from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. In developing his namesake line, Peter borrowed from his roots and incorporated family formulations – based on the natural muds and minerals of the Thermal Springs, valued for their curative properties for specific medical conditions – fusing 19th century recipes with 21st century ingredients and technologies to create a comprehensive skin care collection.
To bring his concept to life, Peter collaborated with long-time friend and current business partner June Jacobs. Together, they launched Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care in 1993. Since its inception, the line has continued to meet the evolving demands and highest standards of both the industry and the most discerning consumers. The brand counts high-profile influencers and many of Hollywood’s most recognizable celebrities as fans, garnering attention from names like Sharon Stone, Hilary Swank, Debra Messing, Steven Spielberg and many more.
Peter remains actively involved in the ongoing, progressive product development process and creative management of the brand, which currently encompasses over 100 products. The comprehensive range of problem: solution products addresses unique skin care needs and includes moisturizers, cleansers, sun care and treatments that target anti-aging, acne and dehydration.
